hi all im new here and have a problem, my friend has very light blonde hair and colours it herself with a shop bought ready colour, she has coloured her roots then combed it through the rest and it has gone a bluey colour in places this has never happened before and i have never come across this does anyone have any advice on how to resolve this

This would be a colour correction and it is not something anyone should be doing without the right background knowledge and experience. Ash (blue) needs to be toned with a copper colour so many things could go wrong if done at home

Sounds like she has 'over processed' areas that are absorbing too much color - A color correction is needed (best done by a salon pro - sorry) And future 'touch - ups' should be confined to new growth only and try a softer 'Pearl' or 'Champagne' shade which has less 'blue' and a little 'violet' for more warmth - she may be losing warm pigments in her hair as she gets older leading to too ashy 'blue' results.
