Hallo Fey and welcome,
                               Yes NVQ level 1 is a very good starting point, not being English is not a problem, but the more you can speak understand the language the better, and as for colledge, the UK is very much part of the European union, so I would investigate the local collage first, enthusiam and a desire to learn is more important than your background, where are you moving to ? where are you from ?
