i am a salon owner and i have just discovered the manager of my salon has been stealing money, she has been with me since 2002 and has been manager since 06 so this has come as quite a shock. another member of staff told me about this about 6 months ago. (since then mamager has been off to have a baby) .she works in my saoln on a self employed basis. i have told her i know its going on but have not accussed her directly. i have told her i want it to stop .the thing is shes a good hairdresser and has a huge client base.  i know her family has huge money problems at the moment and i have known her  a long time. do you think im a fool if i give her another chance. as long as the stealing stops. and belive me i will be checking everything.

Well stealing money is very wrong, once the trust has gone its difficult to replace, my first instincts would be to sack her and call the police, but if you really like her and she is an asset to your business, you could give her another chance, I think you need to confront her with it, it cant go unchecked, its a shame about her family's problems, but a criminal record will not help them, are you 100% certain its her, I think its time to take control of your ship,

Do you know for definite that its her? you should try and get some evidence to show her that you know shes taking money, and confront her with it. People steal for all different reasons, sometimes they just cant help it, other times they may be desperate. She might be a great stylist but if she thinks she can get away with  stealing money she will carry on and i suppose it could affect your profit quite badly. You didnt mention how much she was stealing, if it was only a fiver a week then i suppose it could be dealt with, but if the amount is something like 100 quid then id definitley sack her.
