HISTORY OF HAIRCARE
Professional hairdressing as we know it started in Angelo Saxon times
with the arrival of Lady Locke Shearer who descended from the norse on a
white winged horse, with her long flaxen blonde hair, and shapely figure many
claimed she was a goddess.
Then in medival times hair salons as we know them today hadn't even been
born, hairdressers worked outdoors and customers were placed in stocks to
be attended to.
The most difficult times in the history of haircare was the 60s, a whole
generation of daffadil chewing, kaftan wearing young people refused to have
haircuts, the hippies were born, hell bent on walking past the barbers without
so much as a trim. The hairdressers did not complain, but worked on
dilegently, sometimes not knowing were the next quick fringe would come
from, many had to cut their ours back, some in their deperate plight turned
to reality television. The hippies grow in numbers and became organised,
they held rallies, crys of " no more haircuts " could be heard in city centres.
Things then became critical for the hairdressers, the hippies tried to make
haircuts illegal. The hairdressers had to act now, they set up C.N.D. or cut 'n'dry
as it was known, with there scissor logo.

Things came to a head, the leader of the hippies a young upstart by the name of
Lennon who up until this time had made a name for himself as a singer in the 3
degrees went into the salon, he sat down, and a young stylist named Mary simply
held a mirror up to his face, he used his muddy hands to pull his hair back, fresh
woodstock mud no less, his eyes became accustomed to the light, "blimey I look a
right plum " he said, Mary just smiled, " but I wanted to give peace a chance said
John. " You can" said Mary " and still have nice hair."Thus the conflict was resolved.
At first John had just the ends trimed, a week later he went back for a full set of
tonal highlights and nose hair extentions.
This brings us to the modern day salons were hairdressers are revered and
admired for there silky scissor skills, millionares and lottery winners have been known
to spend in excess of 2 years inside salons.
